Front-door frailty services: what nurses need to know

Allie Anderson Health journalist

Early identification of frailty in the emergency department is key for achieving better patient outcomes

More than one in ten people aged over 65 and up to half of people over 85 live with frailty. This age group is more likely than others to need health and care services – often presenting as emergency admissions because their needs have not been met by other parts of the system. Front-door frailty (FDF) services can make a significant difference to experiences and outcomes for these patients.
