Harriet Monks lobbied for a training session at her university to teach students how to communicate with deaf patients

Before starting my nurse training, I studied British Sign Language (BSL) and passed the level one exam. I have always had a strong desire to work with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, to improve the healthcare they receive.
