Better leadership might ensure physiological needs are paramount

What has happened to nurses ensuring patients’ physiological needs are met? Following a recent hospital admission, I have been reflecting on this. The care provided by the medical staff and most of the nursing staff was excellent. But in terms of meeting a patient’s physiological needs, it feels nursing has lost its understanding of the complexity of human behaviour.
