‘We have to work together’

Director of nursing, midwifery and allied health professions Karen Wilson talks about her role and what inspires her

What is your job?

Until this year I was dean of the school of health, nursing and midwifery at the University of the West of Scotland, but am now director of nursing, midwifery and allied health professions at NHS Education for Scotland. I will be working with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure education is effective and responsive for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals (AHPs), as well as those delivering psychological services and spiritual care. This means the workforce in these areas must be equipped to carry out its roles.
