The effects of age discrimination can be severe for those who experience it. An estimated 6.3 million cases of depression worldwide are attributable to ageism, according to the World Health Organization, while in the workplace it can restrict access to training, stunt career progression and prompt those affected to look for work elsewhere – or even retire.
