Government vows to review Mental Health Act

PM says act has ‘shortfalls and is open to misuse’

The prime minister has announced a review of the Mental Health Act, ten years on from its last overhaul. Speaking at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester earlier this month, Theresa May, pictured, said Professor Sir Simon Wessely will lead the review of the act, focusing on ‘injustice and discrimination’ in the system.
