Degrees of separation

Melanie Carter , Oxfordshire

As a student nurse undertaking the adult branch diploma, I want to know why we are being made to feel like second-class j citizens compared to the adult branch degree students. The practice and skills elements of my course are identical for both diploma and degree, as are the assessments for the practice elements. Not once has a patient been concerned whether I am a degree or a diploma student; they have just been glad that I am a compassionate and caring intelligent individual. Neither has a physician ever asked.
