Improving the pancreatic cancer care pathway

Di Dobson Specialist nurse, Pancreatic Cancer UK

A pancreatic cancer diagnosis can be incredibly bleak. People with the condition need our help to change this

As health professionals, we need to understand the devastating issues that come with a pancreatic cancer diagnosis. The situation is bleak: the UK has the second lowest survival rate of pancreatic cancer in Europe. Of the 10,000 people in the UK diagnosed per year, almost half will die within three months. It has the lowest treatment rate of any common cancer and seven in ten patients receive no treatment at all – not even chemotherapy.
