Essential facts

Kidney cancer is the seventh most common cancer in the UK, with around 12,500 cases diagnosed each year. Numbers are increasing, mainly due to lifestyle factors. There were 4,400 kidney cancer deaths in the UK in 2014. The most common type of kidney cancer is renal cell carcinoma, which accounts for 90% of cases.
