Scotland’s palliative care nursing boost

Marie Young Nursing team manager, Marie Curie Cancer Care

Marie Young outlines the anticipated effect of the contract between NHS Lanarkshire and Marie Curie Cancer Care to extend palliative care provision

Marie Curie Cancer Care has been working closely with NHS Lanarkshire for a number of years. During this time, a solid partnership has developed, as has a strong desire to extend the palliative care service in the region. This was marked by the agreement in April of the largest ever nursing contract to be achieved in the charity’s history. Worth £544,000, the contract will be matched by Marie Curie Cancer Care to bring the total to more than £1 million.
