The RCN’s definition of nursing is finally ready for use. Adele Waters looks at nurses’ contributions to the new document

SO FINALLY nurses know what they are! This week the RCN publishes a document that aims to explain what nursing is all about, its core values and the professional qualities that all nurses share. After a four-month consultation exercise that attracted the highest number of responses in the history of the RCN – more than 160,000 – the document is finally ready for use.
