Issues affecting concordance with leg ulcer care and quality of life

Anne Margaret Williams Community staff nurse and tissue viability link nurse, Llangefni District Nursing Team, Isle of Anglesey

This article examines the issues that influence patients’ concordance with leg ulcer treatment regimens and the effect this may have on quality of life. Nurses need to have a good understanding of the physical and psychosocial factors that affect patients’ concordance with treatment and how any issues can be resolved to enable successful patient-professional partnership, effective care planning and delivery, and better patient outcomes.
