Patients may want to show appreciation for good care, but there are rules about gifts for staff
When it comes to gestures of appreciation from patients, gifts can pose some challenges for nurses. While some patients will want to give gifts as a genuine token of thanks, there may be instances where accepting them could be seen as acknowledging an attempt to gain favours, and would breach the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code.
