Traditionally, universities have struggled to establish placements for nursing students in care homes, but a shake-up of Nursing and Midwifery Council education standards could alter the situation

Giving nursing students a taste of work in nursing homes has always been challenging for universities. One reason for this is that all students on pre-registration programmes must have designated mentors while on placements, and there have been concerns about ensuring there are sufficient numbers of trained mentors and about the quality of mentorship.
