There are 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK. This number is set to increase to nearly 1.6 million by 2040 (Alzheimer’s Society 2021). There are about 540,000 carers of people with dementia in England (NHS England 2022). People with dementia have difficulty communicating and often face challenges expressing themselves.
