Nurses face challenges to secure placements in primary or social care and the voluntary sector

With nursing students required to spend half of their degree programmes working in front-line care, adequate supply of clinical placements is essential. Three years ago, Health Education England (HEE) announced extra funding to increase the availability and range of clinical placements. A big focus was on expanding opportunities outside hospital, such as in GP surgeries, social care and across the voluntary sector.
