Nurses can offer young people treatments that meet their social and emotional needs by using social prescribing
Nurses across settings will be aware that social issues such as loneliness, poverty or problems at school or home can negatively affect children and young people’s mental health. According to children’s charity Barnardo’s approximately one in six children and one in four young people have a mental health disorder, yet 75% of children and young people who experience mental health problems do not get the help they need.
