How nurses can help people with learning disabilities who are at risk of being coerced to wed
When Anne Farmer* was reviewing a referral made to the community learning disability team where she works as a nurse, something seemed wrong. The service user, a man in his thirties with a severe learning disability, was referred for support with health and social needs. ‘His family were very open and said they were planning his wedding,’ says Ms Farmer, who works for an NHS trust in England.
