Nursing research is woefully underfunded, but the tide may be turning

THIS WEEK the PPP Foundation - an independent charity - declared its intention to invest £2.2 million over the next five years to finance the Consortium for Healthcare Research; a collaboration between four universities - City University, London; the London School of Hygiene and Tropica Medicine; Queen Mary, University of London; and the University of Hertfordshire. The funds will be used to support up to 18 doctoral and post-doctoral research fellowships in nursing, midwifery, health visiting and the allied health professions (AHPs). Each institution is also providing funds to sup port the partnership.
