Rohit Shankar and colleagues explain the methods and outcomes of an experiment system for gathering information on service users’ sleeping habits
Just Checking is an evidenced-based tool used in dementia care in many UK health authorities. It uses infrared sensors to produce 24-hour charts showing person-centred activity and staff intervention, and is invaluable for effective and efficient assessment and care planning. The authors used Just Checking as part of a study to screen for movements suggestive of nocturnal seizures in a vulnerable high-risk population who cannot provide reliable histories about their seizure activities. Members of the study group, who all live in the community, have learning disabilities and epilepsy.
