As a nurse leader, clinician and educator, one of the questions I enjoy asking colleagues and nursing students is: ‘What made you come into nursing?’ No matter where or in what context I ask this, it is usually greeted with smiles and thoughtful faces, as colleagues tell me about their desire to help, care and make a difference.
