A team from Inselspital in Bern, Switzerland, describe their experiences in implementing a range of quality assurance initiatives
The Inselspital is a large teaching hospital with 1,036 beds; more than 94,000 outpatients are seen annually. As a group of nurses at management level we have favoured a process-oriented approach to quality of care. We have encouraged learning experiences and supported projects initiated by staff rather than choosing a 'top down’ strategy.
