Helping patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease adhere to regimens
Jane E Scullion Consultant respiratory nurse
Leicester Steve Holmes General practitioner, Shepton Mallett
The management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is complex because people need to make behavioural and lifestyle changes while also taking medications. Risk factors for non-adherence include the actual disease, the treatments, the patient and the clinician relationship and the setting of that contact.
