Same old drop-out story

Your editorial and analysis on student drop-out rates (6 September) makes the comment that high attrition is not a new issue. The records of the General Nursing Council for England and Wales show that between 1951 and 1968 student ‘discontinuations’ from training for all parts of the register, ranged between 31% and 47%.
