I’m no fan of a men’s bursary

I totally disagree with a bursary for men or any form of positive discrimination to fill posts (Can the goal of gender balance ever justify a men-only bursary?, analysis 20 September). You should recruit the people who want to do the job, not strive to meet fake targets. When I trained, the course was made up of 50% modern apprentices, who were basically told ‘you are going to work in a hospital’. The drop-out rate was 25%. The people who wanted to be there had a 100% completion rate.
