Enhancing the care of older people in the community

This article describes a pilot project that aimed to enhance the care of older people who dialled 999 but did not require hospital admission. The project demonstrated how intermediate care teams and the ambulance service worked in partnership to avoid unnecessary hospital admission and to improve health and social care services for this patient group.
