Continuing education in an NDU

This article features the experiences of a group of intensive care nurses in their early efforts to establish a Nursing Development Unit (NDU). The focus is on the contribution that continuing professional nurse education can make to such an innovation. 'The importance of continuing professional nurse education to the NDU is identified and its consequent role outlined. The process of identifying the learning needs of the nurses in this unit and some of the continuing education opportunities which can be utilised have been mentioned. In conclusion, the way forward has been outlined.
