Why this time is different

With RCN members being balloted on industrial action over pay, the current RCN Nurse of the Year and her predecessor explain why this time they will vote to strike – and urge colleagues to stand up for pay and patients

‘Voting for strike action would not be voting to upset the applecart – the applecart is already upset, we haven’t chosen this. The government could pay us adequately, staff departments adequately, fund services adequately, but doesn’t. We must respond – for patients and ourselves.’

Nursing Standard. 37, 10, 8-9. doi: 10.7748/ns.37.10.8.s6
