Poor care has been back in the spotlight following two TV exposés. Undercover filming by the BBC Panorama programme highlighted alleged verbal and physical abuse of patients at the Edenfield Centre, a secure mental health unit in Greater Manchester. This was followed by a Channel 4 Dispatches programme investigation into care at acute mental health wards at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.
