Developing health resources with the help of people with Down syndrome

Lynda Russell Health information worker, Down’s Syndrome Scotland

Lynda Russell describes how focus groups, which included people with Down syndrome, helped develop health promotion material for those with learning disabilities

Down’s Syndrome Scotland received funding in 2003 from the Big Lottery Fund and the Scottish Executive to run a three-year health project. Part of the project involved facilitating health focus groups and producing, with the assistance of group members, booklets and leaflets aimed at people with a learning disability and their carers.
