According to the Institute of Cancer Research, London, the incidence of prostate cancer has been rising steadily since the 1970s, due partly to increased testing. The trend suggests it will overtake lung cancer as the commonest form of the disease in men by 2006. It is a complex disease to diagnose and treat. This article discusses the issues surrounding diagnosis and management of the condition and investigates the treatment options currently available.
