Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, provision was inadequate and disconnected. We need to do better

Over the past 18 months, all of us have in some way been touched by loss. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a considerable number of additional deaths across the country, meaning many more people have been bereaved. Even for those who do not know someone who has died, the daily publication of COVID deaths reminds us all of the brevity of life and brings the issue of bereavement sharply into focus.
