RCN and Marie Curie survey finds nine in ten staff have seen dying people stuck in hospital waiting to be allowed to leave

Almost two thirds (65%) of nurses say staffing shortages are the main barrier to providing good care to people at the end of life, an exclusive survey reveals. Nursing Standard jointly surveyed 5,346 UK nurses and healthcare assistants with charity Marie Curie to determine the effect of staffing on end of life care provision. They found more than nine out of ten respondents (92%) have seen dying patients stuck in hospital waiting for arrangements to be made to allow them to leave.
