Last month’s publication of the NICE guidance document, Improving Supportive and Palliative Care for Adults with Cancer, has re-emphasised the need to increase and improve services for the terminally ill across England and Wales. This article illustrates one way of extending a palliative care service within a region, while at the same time improving the specialist palliative care knowledge of health professionals.
