A community nurse education programme

Justine Collie Practice development nurse, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
Sally Lawton Senior lecturer in Nursing – Palliative Care, Roxburghe House, NHS Grampian, Ashgrove Road, Aberdeen

This paper reports an evaluation of a community nurse education study programme offered within the Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy. Eight participants were recruited prior to the programme and interviewed before and after their attendance on the course. The findings suggest that the programme is a positive learning experience for attendees due to the contact with hospital colleagues and their gaining a greater understanding of disease and treatment.
