'Home Safely Home’ is the final stage in rehabilitation at the Geriatric Medical Unit of Belfast City Hospital. It aims to give patients the information they need for a safe, comfortable and independent life. The programme was started in 1989 after staff discussions on the need to expand rehabilitation to include the problems of coping with daily life. Sessions are held weekly on a four-week cycle and experts from both in and outside the unit are called upon.
