As a nursing student, a prison placement is daunting, but you will learn valuable clinical skills and practise compassionate care. The complexity of prison nursing was discussed at RCN congress

One of my motivations for choosing nursing as a career was to work with marginalised communities and support people going through difficult times in their lives. So, for my five-week elective placement I chose a women’s prison.
