Nurses in a hospital renal unit’s home therapies team were named winners of the Patient’s Choice Award. The couple who nominated them explain why, and the nurses themselves tell us why they love the job they do

Nurses nominated by a couple they supported through kidney cancer, years of dialysis and a transplant have received one of the profession’s top accolades. Renal home therapies nurses Alison Cairns, Caroline McCloskey and Bridgeen Canning were crowned winners in the Patient’s Choice category of the RCNi Nurse Awards at a ceremony in London on 4 July.
