A university programme is enabling nurses who have a passion for education and are working in clinical practice to take on part-time complementary roles in academia
Six front-line clinicians, including two nurses, started a two-year pilot project that helps bridge the gap between clinical practice and academia in September 2022. Teaching on academic courses through the University of the West of England’s (UWE) innovative clinical academic model (CAM), the clinicians – two nurses, two physiotherapists, a dietitian and a radiotherapist – are seconded to the university for 15 hours per week.
