Heavy periods, brain fog and hot flushes can all take their toll, but help should be available

With the average age of the menopause for women in the UK being 51, a significant proportion of nurses are likely affected. Yet workplace conditions and practices often don’t allow for the needs and symptoms of women during this stage. A Nursing Standard health and well-being at work survey in 2019 found many respondents struggle with the menopause and perimenopause at work.
