Emergency care

Ruth Williams Freelance health writer

NHS Improvement has developed an emergency department (ED) patient safety checklist to help maintain safety and reduce overcrowding. The data-visualisation tool provides information on patient flow through EDs, which helps to locate bottlenecks and strains in the system and to implement plans to tackle them; explains how to use this information to plan how to see and treat patients more quickly; and gives leaders and board members an overview of their organisations’ performance.
