Vaccination programme underway after UK’s chief medical officers weighed up the evidence on reducing transmission

Children aged 12 to 15 across the UK are now being offered their first dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for COVID-19. The move follows a recommendation by the UK’s four chief medical officers (CMOs). About 3 million children are eligible for the jab, despite the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) deciding not to recommend mass vaccination of the age group.
