Despite predictions of better days ahead, austerity disproportionally affects people with learning disabilities
The relationship between socio-economic factors and health is well-known. As long ago as 1980 it was identified that individual, community and national factors determine the distribution of healthcare. One national factor affecting the health of people with learning disabilities is the long period of austerity this country is enduring.
