Bowel cancer

Essential facts

Around one in 17 people will get bowel cancer, a disease of the colon or the rectum. Bowel cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer deaths in the UK. More than 15,500 people a year die from the disease. However, more than 90 per cent of those diagnosed can be treated successfully, if their cancer is spotted and treated early enough.
