Who should foot the bill for nurses' shoes?

The Royal College of Nursing is encouraging nurses to claim tax relief on the amount they spend on tights, shoes and laundering uniforms

Back in the 1950s, when all nurses had to wear regulation, sensible shoes, the government agreed to let them claim back the tax on a flat rate of £12 a year for shoes and £6 for tights.
