Systems and processes that ensure high quality care

Sally Bassett Director of forensic services practice, Accountancy firm PwC, London
Kathryn Westmore Manager in forensic services practice, Accountancy firm PwC, London

Sally Bassett and Kathryn Westmore, in the second of four articles on corporate responsibility, discuss why organisations must ensure that their governance systems foster effective leadership and encourage staff engagement

This is the second in a series of articles examining the components of good corporate governance. It considers how the structures and processes for quality governance can affect an organisation’s ability to be assured about the quality of care. Complex information systems and procedures can lead to poor quality care, but sound structures and processes alone are insufficient to ensure good governance, and behavioural factors play a significant part in making sure that staff are enabled to provide good quality care.

The next article in this series looks at how the information reporting of an organisation can affect its governance.
