What’s new in weaning ?

Fiona Wilcock Freelance nutritionist, With a particular interest in diet in children

Fiona Wilcock summarises the main recommendations of the recent COMA report on weaning

The new report from the Committee on Medical Aspects of Food Policy (COMA) on weaning (1) was published in late October 1994 and is a welcome document for all health professionals who have contact with parents of young children. It contains recommendations about suitable diet for the under-ones, with examples and practical advice. It is clearly written and laid out and the description of typical weaning behaviour paints a fairly accurate and vivid picture of toddlers’ mealtimes.
