THE FOCUS of this book is the use of practical communication skills to involve children in medical consultations, with practice-based scenarios. The first chapter considers the history of children’s services and how this affects the current culture. The consent chapter is interesting but lacks consideration of the Mental Capacity Act. Although useful, the child protection chapter seems premised on professionals all agreeing on the actions to follow.
