THE NURSING and Midwifery Council (NMC) exists to safeguard the public and its new standards relate to the level of competence that is required of all nursing students at the end of their pre-registration nursing programme. However, children’s nurses have separate sets of competency requirements that should set them apart from the other fields of practice.
