THE NURSING and Midwifery Council (NMC) exists to safeguard the public and its New Standards for Pre-registration Nursing Education, published in October (Nursing and Midwifery Council 2010) relate to the level of competence that is required of all nursing students at the end of their pre-registration nursing programme.
